‘Land of Dreams’ is a raw and striking display of the asymmetry of rural India, with a particular focus on the role that women play. Cristina García Rodero (Puertollano, 1949) was the first Spanish woman to work at the prestigious photojournalism agency Magnum. She won the World Press Photo award in 1993, the Spanish National Photography Prize in 1996, the FotoPres ”la Caixa” award in 1997, the PhotoEspaña award in 2000 and 2017, the Godó award for Photojournalism in 2000, and the gold medal for Merit in Fine Arts in 2005 and in Castilla-La Mancha in 2016.
Here at the ”la Caixa” Foundation, we are working to wipe out poverty in the most underprivileged communities. As such, we have been supporting 22 humanitarian aid and socio-economic development projects in India since 2001, in collaboration with the main NGOs such as the Vicente Ferrer Foundation.
